Baking soda tips - Use baking soda to extinguish small fires

Use baking soda to extinguish small fires

Baking soda is great at extinguishing small grease and electrical fires. Unlike water, which will spread the fire. Just sprinkle or toss by handful onto the flames. Use caution though, if attempting to use baking soda to extinguish fires in deep fryers, which could cause spattering.

So it is a great idea to have a tub of baking soda in the kitchen, garage, workshop, trunk of your car or anywhere that you could be at risk of fire. If you are cooking and you need to use a naked flame, you would find that extinguishing any small fire with baking soda will not involve your whole kitchen becoming a disaster zone.
